Sindh Cabinet Allocates Significant Funds for Public Transport and Documentaries
The Sindh cabinet has greenlit a substantial financial package, including Rs964.4 million for public transport procurement and Rs1 billion for documentary production. The approvals, made during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Tuesday, aim to bolster public services and awareness initiatives across the province.
Enhancing Public Transport and Media Production
A major allocation of Rs964.4 million is earmarked for the acquisition and operationalization of new public transport buses. This initiative falls under a non-annual development program and signifies a commitment to improving commuter experiences.
Furthermore, the cabinet approved a significant Rs1 billion dedicated to creating films, dramas, and documentaries. According to a CM House spokesperson, these productions will focus on public awareness, such as highlighting the importance of polio eradication. This investment underscores Sindh’s dedication to informed citizenry, as reported on SindhNews.com.
Procurement of Buses and Media Funding
The approval for public transport buses aims to expand the fleet and enhance service availability. The substantial sum allocated for media production signals a strategic push towards public education and information dissemination through engaging visual content.
The cabinet also approved Rs5.84 billion for equipping the Sindh Police with arms and ammunition, bolstering their capacity. Chief Minister Shah stressed the importance of transparent financial discipline and timely fund utilization across all departments.
A protected heritage building on M.A. Jinnah Road was approved for acquisition to establish a new Sindh IT Tower. Separately, the cabinet revised the Wheat Release Policy, lowering the issue price of government wheat stocks to Rs8,000 per 100 kg, a reduction from Rs9,500, to ensure market stability.
The meeting concluded with approvals for critical infrastructure projects, including railway line enhancements for Thar coal transportation and reforms to the pension scheme for new government employees. These decisions reflect a broad agenda for development and public welfare in Sindh.
