CM Afridi to Spearhead PTI’s Sindh Street Mobilisation
CM Afridi is set to lead the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s (PTI) intensified street mobilisation drive across Sindh. This initiative, planned from January 9 to 11, aims to galvanise party support and advocate for the release of former Prime Minister Imran Khan. The announcement signals a strategic push by the PTI to expand its reach and influence within the province.
The three-day tour was unveiled by PTI Sindh President Haleem Adil Sheikh at a press conference at the party’s headquarters, Insaf House, in Karachi. Sheikh stated that Imran Khan personally tasked Chief Minister Afridi with this critical mission. “This is not just about one province or city; Imran Khan’s message will resonate from Karachi to Kashmore,” Sheikh emphasized, as reported by SindhNews.com.
CM Afridi’s Sindh Itinerary
The tour commences on January 9 with CM Afridi’s arrival in Karachi. His schedule includes meetings with the business community at the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry and a press interaction at the Karachi Press Club. He will also engage in street mobilisations across various Karachi districts and meet with detained PTI workers.
On January 10, CM Afridi will travel to Hyderabad. His itinerary there includes participation in street protests, engagement with legal and media professionals, intellectuals, and farmers. A significant gathering at Insaf House Hyderabad is also planned, alongside a city-wide street mobilisation event.
The final day, January 11, will see CM Afridi return to Karachi for further organisational meetings and street mobilisations in additional city districts. A visit to Mazar-i-Quaid is also on the agenda, where he is expected to address supporters. The PTI Youth Wing will launch a dedicated mobilisation drive during this period.
A Drive for Public Mandate
Haleem Adil Sheikh voiced concerns regarding potential obstacles, urging the Sindh government to respect constitutional rights. The PTI views this campaign as a crucial step in defending what they describe as an assault on the public mandate. The party is preparing for an intensified struggle, with February 8, 2024, declared a “black day” by the PTI, focusing on judicial independence and Imran Khan’s release.
This concerted effort by PTI highlights their commitment to grassroots engagement and political pressure. The success of CM Afridi’s tour could significantly impact the party’s standing in Sindh.
