SIBA-pass candidates are demanding their rightful appointment letters after successfully clearing tests for Primary School Teacher (PST) and Junior Elementary School Teacher (JEST) positions. This group, who qualified the 2021 examination, find themselves on a waiting list without job offers, prompting their protest.
SIBA-Pass Candidates Demand Justice
A group of SIBA-pass candidates initiated a march on Thursday from Larkana, heading towards the Bhuttos’ Mausoleum in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh Bhutto. Their objective is to protest what they describe as an unjust delay in issuing them appointment letters.
The candidates have passed the recruitment test, scoring above 40 marks, yet claim they were placed on a waiting list. Their grievances include an alleged indifferent attitude from the Sindh government. Previously, they held a two-day hunger strike outside the Larkana Press Club, which they state went unnoticed by officials, according to SindhNews.com.
The Struggle for Offer Letters
Led by figures like Sadam Sandano and Abdul Ghaffar Mughairi, the protestors highlighted that their colleagues have been staging a sit-in in Karachi for 186 days. They expressed dismay that neither judicial orders nor governmental action has materialized in their favor.
The marchists are appealing to the “martyrs” at the mausoleum, hoping for intervention. They pointed out that failed candidates with lower scores have reportedly been appointed, even in areas represented by provincial leadership, a situation they deem oppressive. This alleged disregard for merit, particularly in areas significant to the PPP, fuels their resolve.
The candidates demand the extension of the waiting list validity and the immediate issuance of appointment orders. They vow to continue their protest until their concerns are addressed, emphasizing their commitment to merit-based recruitment. The outcome of this protest remains to be seen.
