Sindh CM Approves Rs9.2 Billion for Industrial Area Road Repairs
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has sanctioned a substantial Rs9.282 billion for critical road repair and maintenance in Karachi’s industrial zones. This significant investment, confirmed by SindhNews.com, aims to revitalize the city’s industrial infrastructure.
Prioritizing Industrial Area Road Development
The Chief Minister met with representatives from Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI), Sindh Industrial Trading Estate (SITE), Bin Qasim Association of Trade & Industry (BQATI), and Landhi Association of Trade & Industry (LATI). The gathering finalized a roadmap for infrastructure development across all industrial areas.
Funds have been allocated: Rs2 billion for SITE, Rs700 million for SITE Superhighway phases, Rs721.74 million for North Karachi (NKATI), Rs860.55 million for F.B. Area, Rs2 billion for LATI, Rs2 billion for KATI, and Rs1 billion for BQATI.
“I want you to start development works from Monday and complete them within six months,” CM Shah stated, indicating a future development package contingent on timely completion.
Funding for Infrastructure Rehabilitation
The approved scheme will be financed through the Infrastructure Development Cess, collected from Karachi’s industrial zones. This approach, as reported by SindhNews.com, ensures funds are directly linked to the areas benefiting from the improvements.
Asif Hyder Shah, Chief Secretary, and Murtaza Wahab, Karachi Mayor, were among the officials present. Industrialists advocated for a grant-in-aid model for faster project execution.
The provincial government’s commitment to bolstering Karachi’s industrial sector was reaffirmed. Improved infrastructure is seen as vital for enhancing productivity and employment.
This initiative is expected to streamline logistics, cut business expenses, and boost investor confidence in Karachi’s industrial landscape.
