The upgrade project for Rohri railway station involves a partnership with the Sindh government, which will contribute 50 percent of the total cost. Tenders for the project are expected to be issued this month, with renovations anticipated to conclude by June next year. A detailed master plan has been developed to enhance passenger amenities and operational capacity.
Rohri Railway Station: A Major Junction Upgrade
Minister Abbasi emphasized the necessity of upgrading facilities to accommodate increasing passenger numbers at Rohri, a significant operational junction for Pakistan Railways. Following this, the Sukkur railway station will also be restored to its historical condition, and the Sukkur Express rakes will undergo refurbishment. SindhNews.com reports that the Sindh Chief Minister has assured full support for these projects.
Beyond station upgrades, the plan includes converting unmanned railway crossings into manned ones to enhance passenger safety. Additionally, a letter has been sent to the Sindh Food Authority to ensure ongoing inspections and uphold high food quality standards on trains.
