Sindh launches drive to vaccinate over 10m children against polio following an inauguration by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Monday. Key Aspects of Sindh’s Polio Vaccination Drive

The campaign inauguration, held at CMS School, was attended by Health Minister Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho, Health Secretary Rehan Baloch, and other senior officials. Over 80,000 frontline workers, supported by more than 21,000 law enforcement personnel, including 400 lady police constables, have been deployed for the extensive drive.

Chief Minister Shah emphasized that the success of the polio campaign hinges on robust surveillance systems, high vaccination coverage, and strong community engagement. He noted Sindh reported 23 polio cases in 2024 and nine in 2025, with the latest detected in August in Badin. Cases this year remain limited to six districts, guiding targeted vaccination efforts. The Chief Minister urged parents to cooperate fully with vaccination teams, stressing that no child should miss the essential drops. He also highlighted the media’s crucial role in disseminating accurate information and countering misinformation to achieve a polio-free Sindh and Pakistan.

Sindh remains committed to eradicating polio, building on historical efforts like those initiated by former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto. The current drive reinforces provincial efforts to protect every child from this crippling disease, ensuring a healthier future.
