The Sindh government has officially announced a “massive” operation against dacoits operating in the province katcha areas. This decisive action aims to eradicate criminal elements utilizing state force and resources.
Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar confirmed the launch of this extensive operation following a high-level meeting in Sukkur focused on law and order in the Sukkur and Larkana ranges. “We are definitely heading towards a massive operation,” he stated, emphasizing the commitment to utilizing all available resources for targeted and ruthless action against notorious bandits.
Massive Operation Against Dacoits Intensifies
The minister indicated that the operation effectively commenced on the day of the announcement. He offered dacoits a final chance to surrender their weapons and reintegrate into society. However, he issued a stern warning that individuals who resist or continue their criminal activities will face rigorous action, including elimination through state force.
The Home Minister extended his gratitude to the Punjab government for its crucial support in a recent successful operation. This collaboration led to the recovery of individuals kidnapped from Sindh who were being held in Punjab, assisted by paramilitary Rangers and other security agencies. Capabilities and Coordination in the Katcha Area
Responding to queries about potential army involvement, Mr. Lanjar expressed confidence in the Sindh police and the support of the Rangers. “Sindh police are capable and Rangers are with us, so I do not think we will need the army in our internal matters here,” he explained, assuring that security personnel would be equipped with modern technology.
Reports of dacoits employing drones were addressed, with the minister stating his belief that such advanced technology had not yet reached their hands. He also highlighted ongoing actions against their facilitators. To enhance effectiveness, particularly in border areas like Machka which extend into Punjab, a joint operation between Sindh and Punjab police is being planned. The Sindh IG has been directed to coordinate with his Punjab counterpart.
The meeting also received briefings from Sindh IG Javed Alam Odho and other senior police officials on ongoing strategies, including dismantling dacoits’ hideouts and intelligence-based operations. The presence of modern technology such as drone surveillance was noted as critical in pursuing criminal elements.
Home Minister Lanjar underscored the government’s unwavering support for the police, acknowledging that operational challenges may arise. He praised the police’s professional performance and stressed a zero-tolerance policy against those challenging the state’s authority. Recommendations for essential logistic support, including advanced weaponry and vehicles, are being expedited to ensure the uninterrupted success of this mega operation.
The announcement signifies a firm resolve to restore peace and security in the affected regions, with the Home Minister personally overseeing the operation’s progress.
