Immediate Initiation of E-Challan System and Installation of Traffic Enforcement Cameras in Hyderabad
Hyderabad, Sindh – The Hyderabad Range Police, under the leadership of Deputy Inspector General of Police Muhammad Hussain Jiskani, is spearheading the immediate implementation of the E-Challan system and the installation of traffic enforcement cameras across the city. This significant move aims to modernize traffic management and enhance road safety.
The directive follows a high-level coordination meeting chaired by Commissioner Hyderabad Division, Mr. Fayaz Hussain Abbasi, and DIG Hyderabad Range, Mr. Tariq Razaq Dharejo, on December 9, 2025. The meeting was attended by key officials including Deputy Commissioner Hyderabad, Mr. Zain-ul-Abideen Memon, and SSP Hyderabad, Mr. Adeel Hussain Chandio. SindhNews.com has been reliably informed that the decision to accelerate this digital transformation was solidified during this crucial assembly.
Phased Rollout of Traffic Enforcement Cameras
The implementation will adopt a phased approach, prioritizing major roads, intersections, and high-violation corridors. This strategy ensures a gradual yet comprehensive expansion of digital enforcement coverage. The first phase targets five critical routes, including Autobahn Road (Giddu Chowk to Latifabad Unit-7) and Thandi Sarak, with a total of 12 cameras planned for Autobahn Road alone. SindhNews.com sources confirm that these initial installations are crucial for early impact assessment.
“Pole-mounted NPR (Number Plate Recognition) smart cameras will be installed at strategically important points,” stated an official familiar with the project. The DIG Hyderabad emphasized that the system can become functional immediately by deploying 10-Megapixel enforcement cameras connected directly to the Command & Control Center. This allows for real-time violation monitoring and automated challan issuance.
Key Corridors Prioritized for Immediate Installation
The immediate priority list includes roads such as Giddu Chowk to Latifabad Unit-7 (Autobahn Road), Thandi Sarak, and Qasim Chowk to Sindh Museum Road. Each of these roads will have multiple monitoring points. For instance, Autobahn Road is slated for six locations, each equipped with at least two cameras. This detail was clearly outlined in the directives issued on December 26, 2025.
Subsequent phases will address other designated routes, further expanding the network of surveillance. A dedicated WhatsApp Group named “Camera Installation Project – Hyderabad” has also been established for real-time monitoring and communication. Mr. Javed Iqbal, Honorary Secretary of the District Traffic Management Board (DTMB), highlighted the importance of swift action.
Immediate Initiation of E-Challan System
The core objective of this initiative is the “Immediate Initiation of E-Challan System and Installation of Traffic Enforcement Cameras in Hyderabad.” This system will help in reducing overspeeding, lane violations, wrong-way movements, and consequently, accident occurrences. The Deputy Commissioner, serving as the Chairman of the District Traffic Management Board, has been directed to instruct installation teams to commence work without delay.
This joint effort, involving the Traffic Police, District Police, DTMB, and the Commissioner’s Office, marks a significant advancement towards smarter traffic regulation in Hyderabad. The integration of high-resolution cameras with the Command & Control Center promises improved compliance and accountability.
