Sindh’s Pink Electric Scooter Scheme Empowers Women
The Sindh government on Thursday launched the Pink Electric Scooters Scheme via the Sindh Mass Transit Authority. This initiative represents a notable advancement towards women’s empowerment and environmentally friendly urban transportation. These scooters are assembled locally in Pakistan through a partnership between OKLA, a Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, and Ravi Sundar, a Pakistani automotive company. This collaboration ensures that the scooters utilize Chinese technology and expertise while being produced within Pakistan. This positions the country as a developing center for electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing in the area with randomly.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), distributed the scooter keys, stressing the importance of female participation in Pakistan’s progress. He pointed out Sindh’s leadership in sustainable transport, including the earlier launches of electric buses and the Pink Bus Service, now supplemented by the Pink Scooty Scheme.
“No nation can rise to the height of glory unless women stand side by side with men,” Bilawal stated, quoting Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
Looking ahead, an initiative to introduce Pink Taxi project which will offer women safe transportation choices and job prospects.
One of the beneficiaries stated that the plan represents tangible move toward justice and progress, emphasising that the scooters represent empowerment, sustainability, and safer cities for women.
