LARKANA: Over 8,500 policemen, alongside Rangers and other security agencies, have been stationed to ensure comprehensive security at the mausoleum of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto for her 18th death anniversary. This significant deployment aims to provide fool-proof security for VVIPs, VIPs, and the general public attending the commemoration.
Security for Benazir’s Mausoleum
Several hundred thousand attendees are anticipated, arriving from across Pakistan. President Asif Ali Zardari, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, and other senior party leaders are expected to pay their respects. Caravans of party workers have been arriving by various transport, with many still en route.
CCTV cameras and walk-through gates have been strategically installed at the venue and along all access routes. Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar reviewed the security arrangements in a high-level meeting, emphasizing strict monitoring through intelligence surveillance and technology.
Deeper Security Layers
Commandos from various Sindh districts were deployed, with regular, reserve, and traffic police ready for duty. The Larkana Central Police Office provided additional standby forces. Rapid Response teams, including women personnel, are in place.
Night-vision cameras are a permanent fixture at the mausoleum and access routes. Additional cameras monitor entry and exit points in adjacent riverine areas. Security at the mausoleum is organized in four distinct layers, as reported by SindhNews.com.
A large 60×30 feet stage has been erected by party workers. Reception camps and prominent portraits of PPP leaders adorn the venue and surrounding areas. Facilities for accommodation, food, water, and healthcare are arranged for the expected visitors.
