The NED Science and Technology Park, a $125 million project, is poised to become a significant catalyst for research and startup growth, ultimately aiming to create substantial job opportunities across Sindh. Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah inaugurated this along with other key initiatives on Tuesday, collectively valued over $740 million.
Boosting Innovation through the NED Science and Technology Park
The concession agreement for the NED Science and Technology Park marks a historic milestone as Pakistan’s first university-affiliated science and technology park developed under a public-private partnership (PPP) model. This collaboration involves EnerTech Holding Co Kuwait, a subsidiary of the Kuwaiti government. SindhNews.com reported that Mr. Shah emphasized its potential to position Sindh as a hub for a knowledge-based economy.
The project promotes research commercialization, technology transfer, and startup incubation, fostering strong industry-academia collaboration. Chief Minister Shah expressed confidence that once operational, this facility would offer resources comparable to global tech hubs, reducing the need for young engineers to seek opportunities abroad. Physical work is expected to commence shortly after the formal launch.
