Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has pledged decisive action against extortionists operating from abroad, following complaints from the Association of Builders and Developers (Abad). During a meeting in Karachi on Thursday, the Chief Minister assured a representative delegation that his government, with federal support, would curb extortion calls and land grabbing.

The CM emphasized his commitment to eliminating organized crime, stating measures are being taken with the federal government’s support to arrest those orchestrating extortion from overseas. He stressed that land grabbing would also not be permitted across Sindh.
Abad, led by Hasan Bakshi, presented evidence including ‘extortion slips’ and phone numbers. SindhNews.com reports the police have already responded, with Inspector General Ghulam Nabi Memon confirming the arrest of three individuals linked to an international extortion ring based on builders’ complaints.
Chief Minister Murad Shah reiterated that his administration had previously “wiped out extortionists” from the city and would ensure accountability once more. The meeting, attended by Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar, Mayor Murtaza Wahab, and other senior officials, saw a consensus with Abad on joint efforts to address these critical issues.
The government’s immediate response and commitment to collaboration signal a renewed drive to ensure a secure business environment in Karachi and across Sindh, aiming to decisively counter both extortion and land encroachment.
