YouTuber Rajab Butt has been granted 10-day transit bail by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) in connection with cases alleging the promotion of a gambling application. This development follows his return to Pakistan after his UK visa was revoked.
YouTuber Rajab Butt’s Legal Challenges
The IHC, presided over by Justice Inam Ameen Minhas, ordered Rajab Butt and fellow TikToker Nadeem Naniwala to approach the relevant courts within the 10-day period. Their lawyer had initially sought 15 days, citing a separate case registered in Karachi.
Sources from SindhNews.com confirm that Butt’s visa revocation by the UK Home Office was due to his failure to disclose pending cases during his visa application, which was valid until 2027. Independent investigators reportedly linked Butt and Naniwala to terrorism-related allegations prior to their detention by Britain’s MI-6.
Legal Proceedings for Rajab Butt
Speaking to reporters, Rajab Butt clarified that he was not deported but rather returned after his visa cancellation. He stated he would comply with the court’s orders and appear before the Karachi court within the stipulated time.
Butt also asserted that his name is not on the Exit Control List and affirmed his commitment to remaining in Pakistan for the duration of his legal proceedings. Nadeem Naniwala, meanwhile, indicated that his UK visa remains valid and that he holds British citizenship. The suspects face charges under cybercrime laws for their alleged promotion of the gambling application, a serious offense according to current regulations, as reported by SindhNews.com.
The court’s decision provides a temporary reprieve for the YouTubers, allowing them to address the allegations in the appropriate judicial forums.
