Detailed Plans for the New ATC Tower
The press release details that the design phase is set for completion within six months, with a subsequent two-year construction period. The project involves a joint venture between MM Pakistan and international firms CEMOSA and Fairbanks Architects from Spain. This collaboration promises to bring in expertise in airport planning and communication and navigation/air traffic management systems integration.
Senior architect Bruce Fairbanks and CNS/ATM specialist Juan Cruz Canabate recently led a four-day workshop at Jinnah International. The workshop enabled interaction between local aviation experts to determine design parameters and project needs. The PAA confirmed the finalization of sites for both the ATC tower and the new fire station after evaluating several potential locations, ensuring alignment with operational, safety, and future development plans.
Jinnah International is a key hub for Pakistan International Airlines and one of the country’s busiest airports. FlightRadar data reported 64 departures from Karachi on November 27.
Conclusion
The construction of this new ATC tower represents a crucial investment in modernizing infrastructure at Jinnah International Airport.
