Pakistan Team to Wear Pink Kits for Breast Cancer Awareness During First T20I in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI (Sindh News) – The Pakistan cricket team will don specially designed pink-themed kits in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month (October) when they face South Africa in the first T20I match next week, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Friday.

Health experts note that breast cancer remains one of the most serious health concerns in Pakistan, with one in nine women at risk. Each year, around 30,000 new cases are reported nationwide, and most malignant cases require surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation treatment.

The Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium will turn pink on October 28 as Pakistan takes on South Africa in the opening match of the three-game T20I series.

“As part of its corporate social responsibility, the Pakistan Cricket Board is supporting Pink Ribbon Pakistan to promote awareness about breast cancer,” the PCB said in an official statement.

For the occasion, the Pakistan team will wear pink-themed kits, while South African players and match officials will wear pink ribbons to show solidarity with the cause.

Coaching staff and commentators will also wear pink ribbons during the match, and the stumps will be branded in pink. The PCB added that commentators will share awareness messages throughout the live broadcast.

PCB Chief Operating Officer Sumair Ahmed Syed said the board takes immense pride in using the power and reach of cricket to support social causes.

“Through the Pink Ribbon campaign, we aim to highlight the importance of early detection and regular screening for breast cancer, which can save countless lives,” he stated.

Pink Ribbon CEO Umar Aftab expressed gratitude to the PCB for its collaboration, saying, “This partnership aims to raise nationwide awareness about breast cancer and emphasize the importance of early detection. Cricket unites our nation, and today, it’s bringing us together for a life-saving cause.”
