Sindh Govt to Construct 600-Bed Hospital in Larkana

Sindh government is set to construct a significant 600-bed hospital in Larkana, a major healthcare initiative for upper Sindh. Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has approved the project’s design, scope, and financial framework.

The facility is projected to be completed within two years, with a groundbreaking ceremony anticipated in March 2026. This project aims to significantly enhance healthcare access for residents of upper Sindh. SindhNews.com reported on the CM’s directives.

Larkana Hospital: A Tertiary-Care Facility

Officials briefed the Chief Minister that the Larkana hospital will be a six-storey building with a basement, constructed in two phases. It will offer a total of 596 beds, functioning as a tertiary-care hospital.

“This facility will provide quality healthcare to the people of upper Sindh,” stated CM Shah. The project aligns with the vision of PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari.

Phase I includes a six-floor tower with a basement, housing 288 nursing-care beds, 92 emergency beds, and 48 ICU beds. Phase II will add 144 nursing-care and 24 ICU beds, bringing the total to 432 nursing-care, 92 ER, and 72 ICU beds across both towers.

Advanced Medical Services at the New Hospital

The hospital will feature modern emergency services, outpatient departments, radiology and dialysis units, laboratories, and a blood bank. It will also include an endoscopy facility, day surgery, and eight operating theatres.

Specialized medical and surgical ICUs, rehabilitation services, administrative offices, and waiting areas are part of the design. The basement will contain essential support services like a kitchen, laundry, and waste management.

The estimated cost for civil works, including the main building and external development, is approximately Rs3.108 billion. This endeavor promises to transform healthcare infrastructure in the region.
